Chandpur
Chandpur is a district of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chittagong Division with an area of 1,704.06 sq km, It is bounded by Munshiganj and Comilla districts on the north, Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Barisal districts on the south, Comilla district on the east, Meghna river, shariatpur, and Munshiganj districts on the west. Meghna, Dakatia, Gumti, Dhanagada river are notable in Chandpur district. Padma and Meghna river meet near Chandpur town and take a vast expanse. Chandpur is called Hilsha Bari (Home of Hilsha). This world renowned Hilsa fish spends a little time in the river waters and Chandpur district’s Meghna river is one of them.
Chandpur is an old river port city. Geographical history of Chandpur was found in the East-Indian country-map of Perguitar, a place was marked where there was a big river port. This port was actually Chandpur. In 1779, English surveyor Major Renel drew a map where Chandpur and Comilla were rightly spotted.
Sholla Jomidar Bari- was established between 1271 or 1298 BS, Rupsa Jomidar Bari, Historic Grand Mosque of Hajiganj, Lohagor Moth, Portuguese fortress or Sahibganj Nilkuthi, Shahparer Dighi (Lake) are the majors tourist place in Chadpur district.
