Dhaka

Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh, located north of the Buriganga River a channel of the Dhaleswari River in the south-central part of the country. The City emerged as a cosmopolitan city during the Mughal Empire. Dhaka is also known as the city of Mosque. Dhaka is the economic and cultural main hub of Bangladesh. The old city is home to around 2000 buildings from the Mughal and British periods, including notable structures such Bara Katra the south part of Chalk Bazaar, Chhoto Katra built during Mughal’s regime was constructed in 1663 by Subahdar Shaista Khan. Lalbagh Fort is 17th-century Mughal fort complex, Ahsan Manzil residential palace of the Nawab of Dhaka, National Parliament House- the largest legislative complexes in the world, comprising 200 acres.

Day 1: Explore Dhaka City

Start journey 9:30AM by private van along with guide- Star Mosque, Ahsan Manzil, Lalbagh Fort, Parliament Building and Dhakeshwari Temple will be visited in whole day. Around 9:30 back to hotel take dinner and rest. 

Star Mosque - Star Mosque has ornate design and figured with blue star inner and outer, Mirza Golam a landlord built it with Mughal Style in the first half of 19th century. Mosaics and tiles were brought from Japan and Europe to set the design on the wall.

Ahsan Manzil- Ahsan Manzil was the official residential place and seat of Nwab (King) of Dhaka. The construction work of Ahsan Manzil was started in 1859 and completed in 1872. Now Ahsan Manzil is a property of Bangladesh Government and use as a museum.

Lalbagh Fort- Mohammed Azam, son of Emperor Aurangzeb’s started Lalbagh Fort construction in 1678AD. During the construction period his beloved daughter’s immature death stopped the construction work on that time. It is an incomplete fort which carries historical information.

Parliament Building- Parliament Building is a house of Parliament of Bangladesh. The construction work of the Parliament building was started in 1961 and completed in 1982 on the designed by American architect Louis Khan, located at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. The complex is one of the largest legislative complexes in the world, comprising 200 acres (810,000 m2).

Dhakeshwari Temple- Dhakeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple in Dhaka Bangladesh. It is a state own and the largest Hindu Temple in Bangladesh. The Temple was built in 12th century by Ballal Sen, a king of the Sena Dynasty. Dhakeshwari Temple is cultural heritage place in Dhaka City.

Day 2: Explore Dhaka City

Start journey 9:30AM by private van along with guide- Shankhari Bazar, Dhaka River Port, Sadarghat, Curzon Hall, Armenian Church will be visited in whole day.  

 

Shankhari Bazar- Shankhari Bazaar is one of the oldest areas of Old Dhaka in Bangladesh, located near the intersection of Islampur Road and Nawabpur Road. It stretches along a narrow lane, lined with richly decorated brick buildings and built during the late Mughal or Colonial period.

 

Dhaka River Port, Sadarghat- Dhaka river port “Sadarghat” is a major river port on Dhaka, Bangladesh. The port is located in the southern part of the city. It is Bangladesh's busiest port in terms of passenger traffic. The port has services to most of the districts of Bangladesh.

 

Curzon Hall- Curzon Hall was originally intended to be a town hall and is named after Lord Curzon, the Viceroy of India. In 1904 Lord Curzon laid the foundation stone of Curzon Hall. In 1911 Curzon Hall became Dhaka College. In 1921 Curzon Hall declared The Faculty of Sciences at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.

Armenian Church- Armenian Church is a historically significant architectural monument. In 1781 it was built on Armenian Street in Armanitola, Dhaka in Bangladesh. Michel Cerkess, Okotavata Setoor Sevorg, Aga Amnius, and Merkers Poges helped to build the church.
